Living in Vancouver my whole life, light pollution have always obscured the Milky Way. Whenever I do get a chance to see the Milky Way, it’s always been a treat. My buddies AJ Kwong and Nhi Le of Highline West had a spontaneous urge to hunt for a spot to view the Milky Way near Vancouver. we took a spontaneous road trip in the hopes of finding this elusive location. After a long drive up to Pemberton and back, we found the perfect spot at Porteau Cove. Only a 50 min drive from Vancouver, Porteau Cove Provincial Park lies half way between Lion’s Bay and Squamish. The sky is just dark enough for the Milky Way to show up with the naked eye. The images below were taken from pier at this park. the glow of Vancouver can be seen behind the mountain on the left. I will definitely be back here in the future to enjoy the breathtaking view.
